Ballpark — Agent Assist (Chrome extension) · Effective 6 July 2026
Ballpark — Agent Assist is a Chrome extension for licensed insurance agents. It fills a customer's auto-insurance application details — the ones the agent has already entered on the Ballpark agent portal — into the carrier and agent portals the agent opens next, so the agent doesn't re-key the same information twice. This policy explains what the extension reads, what leaves your device, and what we do and don't do with it.
The user of this extension is the agent. The data it handles is the customer's own application data, which the agent is already collecting and handling in the course of placing that customer's insurance.
What the extension accesses
- Customer application details — name, mailing address, date of birth / age, gender, marital status, driver's-license number and state, vehicle (VIN, year/make/model), annual mileage, prior-insurance status, at-fault incidents / violations, and credit tier. These are the fields needed to rate and place an auto policy.
- Prices already visible on the agent's screen — when an agent views competitor quotes in their own authenticated rating session, the extension may record a "market observation" (the quoted prices alongside the anonymised rating profile) so we can measure where Ballpark's price is and isn't competitive.
The extension reads a page's form fields in only two situations:
- When the agent clicks the toolbar button to fill the page they are on.
This uses Chrome's
activeTabpermission — access is granted for that one tab, at that moment, by the agent's click. The extension does not run in the background on arbitrary websites. - On a fixed list of known rating and carrier domains (e.g. Progressive, Dairyland, TurboRater, Quomation, Insurify) where it passively surfaces a Ballpark price and records the market observation described above. This list is fixed in the extension and visible in its manifest.
What we do not collect
- No Social Security numbers.
- No browsing history, and no data from any site outside the situations above.
- No customer credentials. The extension never sees or transmits your carrier/portal passwords.
What leaves your device, and where it goes
The extension talks only to Ballpark-operated services, over HTTPS:
| Endpoint | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
quote.sfinsure.tech |
Only the rating attributes needed to compute a price (e.g. ZIP, age, vehicle, mileage). | To return a Ballpark price for the customer. |
decode.sfinsure.tech |
A PII-free "skeleton" of a form — field labels, names and option lists only, never the customer's entered values. | To classify which field means what, so the filler is accurate. |
collect.sfinsure.tech |
Aggregate outcomes and market observations (competitor prices + a segment-level, de-identified rating profile). Direct identifiers are dropped or hashed on-device where possible. | To measure competitiveness. |
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or for any purpose unrelated to the single purpose above.
Storage and retention
The current customer's details are held transiently — in the browser's session/local extension storage — only for as long as needed to price and fill the customer's application. The agent can clear the stored customer at any time with the Clear button in the extension popup; stored data is also cleared on browser close.
Security
- All network traffic is over TLS.
- The extension contains no remotely-executed code; only configuration/selector data is fetched at runtime, from Ballpark-controlled origins.
- Portal/session credentials stay in the browser and are never exposed to Ballpark or to any third-party page.
Your responsibilities as an agent
You are handling your customer's data as their licensed representative. Use of this tool does not change your own obligations to your customers or your carriers under applicable law and your agency agreements.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by a new effective date on this page.
