Philosophy
Built for the
independent agent.
A few beliefs that decide what we build — and what we'll never do.
Rating a risk should be free, fast, and honest. Everything else is a feature.
Agents shouldn't pay to find out where a risk lands
Comparing carriers is the most basic thing an independent agent does, and for decades it's been gated behind per-seat software that costs hundreds a month and takes a project to set up. That's backwards. Knowing roughly what a risk will cost across your appointments is table stakes — it should be free. So it is, and it always will be. Agents will never pay for Ballpark. Not per seat, not per producer, not "free for now."
Honest estimates beat false-precision quotes
We'd rather tell you the truth — "about $102 a month, give or take 5%" — than hand you a falsely exact number that falls apart at bind. Ballpark builds premiums from public rate filings and live carrier data and shows them with a confidence band. The job isn't to replace the carrier's rate; it's to get you to the right carrier fast, so you only do the real work once. Always verify before you bind — and we say so on every result.
Do one thing, and make it instant
Ballpark isn't an agency management system and isn't trying to become one. It rates a risk across the carriers you can actually place, ranks the answers, and gets out of your way. One risk entry fans out to every appointed carrier at once, so a slow carrier never holds up the rest. Soon, our Chrome extension will carry that same risk into the carrier's own portal and fill the form for you — because the second-most-tedious thing after comparing is re-typing.
Only the carriers you're appointed with
A comparison is only useful if you can place the business. You tell us your appointments once, and that's all we ever rate — no noise from carriers you can't write, no pretending a market is bigger than your book. Add a carrier the day you get appointed; it shows up automatically.
Earn the workflow, every day
Free isn't a loss-leader trick or a trial that lapses. Being the tool you reach for on every quote is the entire strategy — that's a place worth earning honestly. We make money elsewhere, never by charging you to compare a risk.
